Brazil Fire Head Coach Dorival Junior After Humiliating 4-1 Defeat to Argentina

After their devastating 4-1 loss to Argentina, Brazil did in fact fire head coach Dorival Junior. The Brazilian Football Confederation acted quickly after Brazil suffered its worst loss in a World Cup qualifying match.

Brazil won seven games, drew seven, and lost two during Dorival Junior’s roughly 14-month tenure as head coach. He was fired because the team’s performance was considered inadequate in spite of this.
The top six South American teams automatically qualify for the 2026 World Cup, with Brazil currently ranked fifth. Since Dorival Junior is no longer there, the confederation is looking for a new manager who can take over right away.
