In an open interview with Spanish channel XBuyer, Marcus Rashford has stepped up his pursuit of a move to Barcelona, saying, “Everyone in the world wants to play with the best [Lamine Yamal].” I hope we will see.
The Manchester United misfit, who is now training in Marbella, highlighted his tactical adaptability and alluded to the possibility that he would replace Robert Lewandowski as Barcelona’s number nine.
“As I’ve got older, the No. 9 position is becoming more natural.”
Barcelona wants to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao, but they are limited by salary caps. To make the transfer easier, Rashford pledged to cut his £350,000 weekly United salary. The club want €30 million (£25.7 million), which Barcelona considers to be too much. Talks on loans have stopped. Rashford will rejoin United for the preseason under Ruben Amorim if no contract is reached by July.
Last month, Barcelona’s sports director Deco met with Rashford’s brother and agent, Dwaine Maynard. United 13 made the same offer, but Real Madrid turned it down.
