Iliman Ndiaye’s penalty negated Leandro Trossard’s opening goal for the visitors, and Everton did their neighbors Liverpool a huge favor on Saturday by holding title-chasing Arsenal to a 1-1 Premier League draw at Goodison Park.
In second place With 62 points from 31 games, Arsenal is 11 points behind leaders Liverpool, who play on Sunday at Fulham. With 35 points from 31 games, Everton moves up to 14th place, 15 points above the relegation zone.

A poor header in midfield allowed Raheem Sterling to race clear and feed Trossard, who took a touch and drilled his shot low into the far right corner to give Arsenal the first shot on goal of the match in the 34th minute.
Two minutes into the second half, Myles Lewis-Skelly pulled down Jack Harrison in the box, earning Everton a penalty. Ndiaye then scored his ninth goal of the season across all competitions, ending Arsenal’s waning title hopes.
Trossard told TNT Sports, “It is a tough one; overall, we played well, but our start to the second half was not good enough.”
“In the second half we played too much into their game-plan and not enough of ours.”

Before kickoff, Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, gave a heartfelt embrace to David Moyes, whom he refers to as his “football father.” Moyes introduced the former midfielder to the English game during the Spaniard’s nearly seven-year tenure at Everton.

Although neither team was able to play at their best during the majority of the scrappy match, Arsenal had the better opportunities and will be disappointed that they were unable to force a second goal.
In the fourth-final match at their renowned old stadium before moving to a new location the following season, Everton gained another point toward safety.
